A quick talk with Ayers-Styling

Virtual style accounts are a dime a dozen on Instagram, which I fully recognize even though I have my own style account. However, there is one that sets itself far apart from all the rest: Ayerstyling. For the Gossip Girl and Sex and the City fan that adores simple, classic, and preppy outfit inspiration this is the perfect account to follow. Mixed in among the outfit inspiration are beautiful images linked together by a key theme. This clean, girly aesthetic that stays consistent for scrolls and scrolls is part of why Ayersstyling is so popular. It’s simple. It’s easy. And it inspires you to start your dream life.

That is if your dream life is high-class and flirtatious.

In an effort to understand this account more, I reached out to the woman that runs the account, Maria.

Curious about what I asked? Read the interview below!

1. What inspired you to be a virtual stylist?

I’ve always loved putting outfits together and styling someone based on their interests & desires, so being able to do that virtually for people from all over the world was ideal for me!

2. You obviously really adore Blair, how did her style (and Gossip Girl in general) influence your fashion choices and career path?

I do! I fell in love with her character the moment I began reading the Gossip Girl books, I learned about so many brands through the books and the TV series coming out really elevated that for me!

What I love so much about Blair’s style is that is it a classic, something that will never go out of style. A lot of her looks are inspired by Audrey Hepburn who is another big style inspiration for me. I realized there are many people who want to get a certain look or style from a character, and I’ve incorporated that into my styling services!

3. What are your favorite places to shop?

My current favorite places to shop are Alice + Olivia, Loveshackfancy, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue! I also love finding unique pieces or items worn on Gossip Girl on Poshmark.

4. Is virtual styling a side hustle for you? Or your main job? Would you consider is something you'd like to do in the future?

My current job is Social Media and Styling! The majority of my income is from brand deals and my styling services. My major in college was Communications with a minor in Fashion Studies so I am also open to starting a full time position in either Social Media or Fashion eventually. The one thing I know for sure is that I will always do my styling services because I am very passionate about it, it’s such a good feeling making someone feel good in the clothes they are wearing.

5. How many times have you watched GG? Do you think there's anyone who is a bigger fan?

Too many times to count! It’s my go to, whether I just have it on in the background or if I’m binging it again I’m always watching. I have gotten to the point where I know where a lot of the characters outfits are from. Gossip Girl was truly ahead of it’s time and it will never get old for me, I’m such a fan.
