How to get Rory Gilmore's style

“I’d like coffee with a shot of cynicism.”

For some reason, Fall resonates with me as a specific season to binge-watch Gilmore Girls. From the Connecticut leaves and beautiful light, the show's cinematography makes me want to curl up in bed with a mocha chocolate caramel swirl-a-chino with extra whipped cream and judge Dean for his possessive behavior over Rory and in later seasons his willingness to cheat on Lindsey.

Ok, so now that I’ve gotten—some— of my opinions out of the way, let’s discuss Rory’s style. And if you’re interested in a video summary of this article then check out my TikTok.

Baggy Jeans

To be honest, the best place to find baggy jeans that aren’t going to fit you like a glove is a thrift store. Not only is it environmentally friendly, but often this is more affordable.

Graphic t-shirts

Once again, thrift stores can be a great place to find graphic tees. Along with this, hunting down items on Depop, Pac Sun, and Amazon are also great options.

Mini skirts + tights

In later seasons, Rory Gilmore’s outfits transitioned into something a bit preppier, and with this came her love of skirts and tights. This was usually paired with Doc Martens and a sweater. Skirts are relatively easy to find, but right now I’m obsessed with Lulu’s.

Sweaters

Steal your dad’s (or any other guy in your life) because the bigger is truly the better for Rory’s style.
